Web3 Onboarding: AlwaysOn Newbie Mode

Why people still fear Web3

Because money can vanish with one wrong tap - and because many UIs speak in a foreign tongue. Good onboarding neutralizes fear one decision at a time with visible status and timely hints, not a 20‑screen tour.

Newbie mode isn’t a tour

Don’t rely on intro videos or patience. Weave learning into the path: micro‑definitions on tap, previews right before commitment, guidance at the exact decision point. The Back button always works.

Useful patterns

  • Wallet connect without friction. One idea per screen; fewer steps, fewer terms.

  • Human costs. Don’t show just “gwei” - estimate fiat.

  • Statuses & receipts. Visible history and explorer links build trust.

  • Safe defaults. Minimal required permissions; explicit approvals.

Measuring success

Track wallet‑connect CR, DAW/MAW, repeat actions, and ticket reduction - not pageviews. If a newcomer reaches first value, they’ll return.
